Our carts evolved over the years as a result of having to care for my beloved Boxer Shelbie....She developed cushings disease and over a very short period of time, lost the use of her back legs...it was heartbreaking to watch her struggle. To make it more difficult on me, she was also my dedicated service dog who had a gift for seizure detection and response. She had given me years of faithful service and now it was time for me to give it back. I put together a cart for her out of some old boat parts, a lawn spreader and an old scubIa suit. It was quite a site but it worked and my 90 pound girl was up and rolling again. Her new set of wheels gave her back tyhat spark and she was so happy to go out for walks again. I cared for her until the last minute of her life and havent' regretted one second of it. She is the true inspiration behind Canine Wheels.
Two years later, my American Staffie tore his ACL's bilaterally and was completely disabled from the injury. Because of his age and weight, he wasn't a good candidate for surgery and the vet suggested that I do the humae things and put him down...clearly I would never consider putting a dog down simply because he could not walk...shelbie's legacy came pouring back into our lives as I put together another cart for my dog Benjamion. My simple pvc design made my carts very strong, lightweight and functional. The idea took off and the resonse took me by storm as I was soon working day and night fabricating and consstructing each cart to make sure that every dog could get their cart fast. Within a short period of time, orders were coming in from every corner of the country and I knew I had found my calling...Canine Wheels is commited to providing affordable carts to every dog that needs one.
